Tainan City Councilor Tang Bi-e recently raised inquiries regarding Tainan’s transportation policy, suggesting that if the Kaohsiung MRT could be extended to Tainan City, it would further promote interactive development between the two cities. She recommended that Tainan Mayor William Lai vigorously push for the plan.

In response, William Lai also stated that the Kaohsiung MRT currently only extends as far as Gangshan Station. If it could be extended further north to Tainan, it could deliver even greater benefits. He has already reached a consensus with Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu and plans to seek central government approval to extend the Kaohsiung MRT to Tainan.
