Coming to Tokyo? Here's a new experience for you again this year. To prepare for the 2020 Olympics, Tokyo plans to launch a "water taxi" service starting from the end of November. Passengers can board and disembark at various locations including Tokyo Bay, Odaiba, Toyosu, and even Haneda Airport and Asakusa, making transportation more convenient and offering travelers a new way to explore Tokyo.

In preparation for the upcoming Olympics, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has made comprehensive preparations, aiming to utilize all available resources to handle the potentially massive transportation demands. As a result, efforts have been made to revitalize Tokyo’s water transport and port functions, leading to the introduction of water taxis.

The boarding and disembarking points for Tokyo’s water taxis include options such as Tokyo Bay, Toyosu, Odaiba, Haneda Airport, and Asakusa. Each boat can carry up to six passengers, providing a more convenient and faster mode of transportation. Currently, the fare is still under adjustment, and will include a pier usage fee along with a per 10-minute transport charge.
