Take the MRT to enjoy the romantic night view of Taipei’s riverside flower sea

As early winter arrives, flowers at Chengmei Riverside Park are beginning to bloom in full splendor. The Taipei City Water Department has decorated Xikou Wharf with over 15,000 seasonal flowers, featuring blooming crabapple, dianthus, lantana, and angelonia—absolutely eye-catching. The flower viewing period lasts until late December. After strolling along the riverside to admire the flowers, you can also take a walk at Rainbow Riverside Park or explore the Raohe Night Market—both are great options.

The flower sea is located in both the left and right banks of Chengmei Riverside Park, with a total of over 15,000 seasonal flowers arranged into a dreamy rainbow line paired with a heart-shaped motif. Crabapple flowers present a romantic atmosphere in vibrant reds and pinks, alongside purple dianthus, yellow lantana, and peach-colored angelonia—creating a colorful tapestry of blossoms. Nearby lies the love-themed Rainbow Riverside Park, where an evening stroll offers a uniquely charming vibe. On the forever-shaped lovers’ stone bench, you can take in the illuminated night views of both riverbanks, absolutely gorgeous. On the “LOVE” installation art piece, you can even hang a love lock to make a wish for your romance.

Besides taking the Songshan MRT line, you can also reach Xikou Wharf by bike. On weekends, you can rent a bicycle at the Rainbow Rental Station and ride upstream along the Keelung River for about five minutes to get there. Nearby attractions include Raohe Night Market and Wufenpu, which you can easily include in your itinerary. Spend a relaxing weekend afternoon on the riverside—whether by bike, on foot, jogging, or walking your dog, you’ll enjoy the beautiful riverside park to the fullest.
