Tainan is bathed in a romantic atmosphere as its Christmas Light Festival kicks off

Every Christmas, Tainan City hosts a Christmas Light Festival, where dazzling and romantic lights bring warmth, care, and festive blessings to residents and visitors alike.

This year, the Tainan City Government has partnered with National Tainan University, Kunshan University of Science and Technology, and Tainan University of Applied Sciences to create four main light zones. The festival runs from December 1 to January 31, 2016, with lighting ceremonies held on December 6 and 11 at the Taiwan Literature Museum and Xinying Cultural Center Plaza respectively, inviting everyone to spend a romantic Christmas in Tainan.

The Taiwan Literature Museum was once the Tainan Prefectural Hall during the Japanese colonial period, second in importance only to the Governor-General's Office at the time. Located near the Tainan Confucius Temple and bridal districts, the designer used pure white, symbolizing the happiness of a wedding dress, to create a one-of-a-kind white Christmas tree of happiness. It aims to fill both wandering tourists and young students with a deep sense of joy.

Red is the first color that evokes passion. Using the heartbeat and the enthusiasm of Tainan residents as concepts, this installation employs interactive sound to allow people to communicate with the Christmas tree, making its lights change colors and twinkle—just like Tainan, a city full of warmth, responding with its own passion.

Tainan Railway Station is the city’s busiest train hub and an important transportation node. It features white doves carrying large gift boxes combined with classic traditional window patterns, offering an abundance of blessings as gifts. It aims to wish both visitors from afar and local passersby peace and joy in the new year.

The blue heart symbolizes the attachment to the sea shared by fishermen, travelers, and lovers who come and go to Anping, while the yellow light balls at the treetop shine warmly like a lighthouse, illuminating hearts—just like the "Anping Serenade." In this harbor dotted with fishing lights, everyone is composing their own blue love song.
