The New Year’s holiday is approaching—have you decided how to welcome 2016 yet? To accommodate travelers during the New Year’s break, the Alishan Forest Railway will operate two round-trips daily between Chiayi and Fenchihu from January 1 to 3, 2016. Tickets for all services will go on sale via phone reservation starting at 8:00 AM on December 18, 2015. The Zhushan Sunrise Train tickets will also be available for purchase starting December 10.

To transport passengers traveling to Zhushan to witness the first light of 2016, the Zhushan Sunrise Train will begin operations at 2:20 AM. A total of 16 outbound trips are planned, but only seven specific services (Trains 51, 53, 55, 57, 59, 61, and 63) will accept phone reservations for group bookings of 20 or more people, with 250 seats available per trip. On the return journey (from Zhushan to Alishan), 10 trips will be available, and passengers may choose any departure time, with 150 seats available for pre-sale per trip.

According to Taiwan Railways Administration, phone reservations for group bookings on the Zhushan Sunrise Train will open at 9:00 AM on December 10, 2015, with a limit of 100 tickets per call until sold out. Individual passengers may purchase tickets in person at the ticket office on the first floor of Alishan Station from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on December 31, 2015. Each person is limited to 10 tickets per purchase until sold out.
