The title of the world’s most dazzling Christmas tree has a new owner. This Christmas, Canberra, Australia, set a Guinness World Record by decorating a Christmas tree with as many as 518,838 bulbs, breaking the world record to become the most radiant Christmas tree ever.

The previous record holder was the Christmas tree at Osaka Universal Studios, which stood 36 meters tall and was adorned with 374,280 bulbs. Yet in less than a month, it was surpassed by the Christmas tree in Canberra, Australia. This tree was built by local wealthy individuals in Canberra, who gathered a volunteer team including electrical engineers, structural engineers, welders, and carpenters. They constructed a 22-meter-tall Christmas tree in the city using steel pipes and decorated it with 500,000 small bulbs. It was officially lit on November 27, becoming the most radiant Christmas tree in the world.

In addition to having the most radiant Christmas tree, Australia has also recently seen what netizens consider to be the strangest Christmas tree. In Lismore City, New South Wales, Australia, a Christmas tree made from 90 discarded bicycles was created with an environmental theme. The bike frames were painted white and the tires were painted in vibrant colors. The local government described the tree as symbolizing the "quirky," "colorful," and "eco-friendly" spirit of Lismore. However, the abundance of colorful wheels also led some local residents to joke that it looked like a Christmas tree covered in condoms.
