Before Taipei’s Xinyi District could claim the spotlight, the most popular Christmas event in the Gongguan area of Taipei is the Taipei Water Museum, which has drawn significant attention. The beautiful museum building is illuminated with romantic lighting, complemented by festive Christmas decorations, creating a magical and heartwarming atmosphere.

The most anticipated concert of the Gongguan Christmas Season will be held on December 19th at the Taipei Water Museum. From 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM, in addition to refreshing performances by bands such as KurumiQ and The Lighters, this year the event once again invites Professor Ye Shuhhan, renowned as a master in the wind instrument community, to personally conduct the National Taiwan Normal University Wind Orchestra. Paired with choral vocals, the Taipei Water Museum will offer a warm and joyful holiday soundtrack well ahead of Christmas night. This year’s performance will feature opera pieces for the first time, such as Cavalleria Rusticana and The Phantom of the Opera. Moreover, on December 19th, entry to the museum will be free, so music lovers shouldn’t miss out.

This year’s Gongguan Christmas Season is themed “Snow Crystal Christmas, Flowers Bloom at the Water Museum.” In addition to elegant lighting that harmonizes with the shimmering water reflections to add a refined touch to the Taipei Water Museum, nearly a thousand poinsettias have been arranged into a lush green wall. In front, there is also a cute set-up featuring a reindeer and sleigh for visitors of all ages to take photos. There are also many colorful floral displays that allow the public to experience the joyful Christmas vibe of riding a sleigh. On the afternoon of December 19th, Santa Claus will also be on-site for photos and interactions. Starting at 5:30 PM, there will also be free blind massage experiences and stage activity giveaways.

Whether you take the MRT, bus, or drive yourself, getting there is very convenient. MRT riders can get off at Gongguan Station and exit from Exit 4, then walk a few minutes along Siyuan Street to reach the venue. Due to the large crowds during the event, it is recommended to use public transportation whenever possible.
