New Year's Eve 2016 Countdown: Wat Arun Fireworks Become the Highlight of Bangkok’s New Landmark

This grand celebration will also honor the 88th birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the 84th birthday of Queen Sirikit. On the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya River, a 300-meter stretch from Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra Road – at the intersection with Narathiwat Ratchanakharin Road to Charoen Krung Road – will be turned into a pedestrian street. Themed around an ancient Thai-style market, it will offer regional Thai products categorized by geography. The Tourism Authority of Thailand has selected One Tambon One Product (OTOP) items from 24 hidden gems and additional attractions, as well as renowned shops from Bangkok’s 50 districts. This special three-day market will also feature stage performances with both modern and cultural programs.
