Plum blossoms in Chiayi bloom like snow, creating a fairy-tale scene

Recently, waves of cold fronts have brought a chill to the air, and they have also ushered in the full bloom of plum blossoms at Chiayi’s Meishan Park. As of the 10th, 50% of the plum blossoms have bloomed, and it is expected that they will all be in full bloom by late January, covering Meishan in a blanket of snowy blossoms. During the plum blossom season, visitors to Meishan Park can enjoy the flowers and also take part in weekend performances by street artists and tea-tasting activities, making the trip even more enriching.

Located in Meishan Township, Chiayi County, Meishan Park has been planted with plum trees since the Japanese colonial period. After renovation, the park now features a complete circular trail, as well as facilities such as pavilions and observation decks, making it a renowned plum blossom destination in southern Taiwan. Unlike typical plum blossom viewing spots, Meishan Park is adjacent to downtown Meishan and is only about 5 kilometers from National Freeway No. 3 (Meishan Interchange), offering very convenient transportation. The park covers an area of 6 hectares and is home to about 3,000 plum trees, which usually bloom from December to February of the following year.

In addition to the famous plum blossoms, the park also plants a variety of other flowers and trees such as peaches, plums, peonies, azaleas, and poinsettias, giving the park a different look in each season and making it well worth a visit.
