Cold winter is coming to an end. From plum blossoms to cherry blossoms, and the beautiful, colorful tulips quietly blooming, spring has officially arrived. Taiwan’s tulip season runs from December all the way through the end of March. The most well-known spots to view tulips include Peach Blossom Valley, Zhongshe Sightseeing Flower Market, and Nantou’s Shanlinxi — each attracting numerous flower enthusiasts every year who flock there by name alone.

● Zhongshe Sightseeing Flower Market
Located in Houli District, Taichung City, Zhongshe Sightseeing Flower Market is the only flower market in central Taiwan successfully cultivating tulips at low altitudes. This year, over 200,000 tulips of more than 50 varieties imported from the Netherlands have been planted, and they have been blooming continuously from now until mid-March. Not to be outshone by the tulips, the 5-hectare park also features a variety of seasonal flowers including lilies, crimson sage, salvia splendens, roses, and other plants, filling the European-style garden with a wonderfully romantic ambiance.

● Nantou Shanlinxi
Nantou County’s Zhushan Town is home to the Shanlinxi Forest Recreation Area, which sits at an altitude of 1,600 meters — an ideal climate for cultivating tulips. Coupled with its fresh, clean, and pristine forest environment, the tulips here bloom in dazzling beauty. The blooming period usually lasts about 20 to 25 days. Right now, it’s peak tulip season at Shanlinxi, with the floral spectacle continuing until late February. Then in March, the area will also welcome peony season and Wushe cherry blossom season. These are all perfect times to visit Shanlinxi.
