A new year has begun, and in 2016, numerous brand-new tourist attractions are set to open around the world. From The Hunger Games theme parks to museums, all are highly anticipated and will add highlights to your 2016 travel plans. Here’s a list of nine major new travel attractions coming this year.
 
● Shanghai Disneyland (Shanghai Disneyland)
Shanghai Disneyland is scheduled to officially open on June 16. It features six themed areas, including “Mickey Avenue,” “Gardens of Imagination,” “Fantasyland,” and “Tomorrowland”… Among them, the most eye-catching is the Chinese Zodiac area featuring Pixar characters.

● “Ark Encounter” Biblical Theme Park (Ark Encounter)
The “Ark Encounter” is expected to open on July 7 and will become the world’s largest wooden structure building. Plans are currently underway with nearby religious institutions and museums to create themed experiences.

● Palestinian Museum (Palestinian Museum)

● FIFA Football Museum (FIFA Football Museum)
The FIFA Football Museum is set to open early in the year in Zurich. It will be a sacred place for football fans worldwide, featuring an extensive collection of football memorabilia and books, as well as interactive football experiences.

● San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (San Francisco SFMOMA)
The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, expected to open on May 14, will become the largest art exhibition venue in the United States—three times larger than the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan.

● Louvre Abu Dhabi (Louvre Abu Dhabi)
Louvre Abu Dhabi is expected to open toward the end of 2016.
