This year’s Chinese New Year holiday lasts for nine days. In addition to returning home to reunite with family, many people also take advantage of the holiday to go outdoor sightseeing. To ensure everyone has a safe, smooth, and enjoyable Spring Festival break, the Tourism Bureau under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, based on past years’ travel conditions at various tourist spots during the Spring Festival, has estimated the top ten popular scenic areas prone to congestion. To avoid heavy traffic and potential congestion, services such as “Taiwan Sightseeing Bus” tour packages and “Taiwan Good To Go” (scenic area shuttle buses) have been introduced. When planning your itinerary, it’s recommended to take these options into consideration.

To encourage the public to use public transportation during the Spring Festival holiday, the Tourism Bureau and related agencies have planned 13 shuttle bus routes in key tourist areas such as Jinguashi, Jiufen, Sun Moon Lake, Alishan, Guanziling, Maolin, and Taroko. Additionally, the Tourism Bureau has launched 57 “Taiwan Sightseeing Bus” tour packages for the holiday period, and has guided county and city governments and national scenic area administrations to operate 39 “Taiwan Good To Go” (scenic area shuttle buses). Travelers who prefer not to drive or worry about parking can make good use of these options.

Based on past years’ travel conditions at various tourist spots during the Spring Festival, the Tourism Bureau estimates that the following popular scenic areas may experience congestion: Jinguashi and Jiufen, Nanzhuang, Sun Moon Lake, Xitou, Alishan, Beimen Wedding Photo Spot, Guanziling, Buddha Memorial Center, Kenting, and Chulu Ranch. To avoid congestion caused by heavy traffic, it is advised to use public transport and pay attention to related traffic diversion measures.

→ Jinguashi and Jiufen Areas (Provincial Highway 2, County Road 102)
It is recommended to take the “Taiwan Good To Go” Golden Fulong Line or choose a “Taiwan Sightseeing Bus” tour covering Jiufen and the Northeast Coast.
→ Nanzhuang Area (County Road 124, Nanzhuang section)
It is recommended to take the “Taiwan Good To Go” Nanzhuang Line or Shishan-Nanzhuang Line, or choose a “Taiwan Sightseeing Bus” tour for Miaoli Nanzhuang.
