Travelers to Japan no longer need to worry about running out of yen. Starting in February, you can directly exchange 13 foreign currencies, including the New Taiwan Dollar, at specific FamilyMart convenience stores in Japan. The service will first be available at tourist-heavy locations such as Asakusa in Tokyo, where 24-hour self-service foreign currency exchange machines will be installed. It is expected that by the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the number of stores offering currency exchange will expand to over a thousand, improving shopping convenience for tourists.

Japan’s FamilyMart has partnered with foreign exchange company Travelex Japan to install self-service currency exchange machines at selected stores. Travelers can exchange 13 currencies—including the New Taiwan Dollar, U.S. Dollar, Euro, Chinese Yuan, Australian Dollar, Hong Kong Dollar, British Pound, and Thai Baht—for Japanese yen. The machines also offer four language options: Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean. The minimum exchange amount is 10 yen. These machines aim to provide a more convenient shopping experience for visitors.
