Spectacular!“Flowers in Changhua 2018,” a series of events, will be joyfully held at Xizhou Park from the first to the 16th day of the Lunar New Year. In addition to the beautiful flower fields during the day, this year the evenings will feature the added romance of a “Nighttime Light Festival.” The light festival’s installation art is being set up progressively, and even the small-scale trial lighting—with its vibrant and dazzling sea of flowers and lights—has already been captivating enough to build high anticipation for the official launch of the event.

Wei Ming-ku, Magistrate of Changhua County, stated that the “Flowers in Changhua” series of events has been widely loved by people across the nation since its inception and is currently ranked among the top 10 Spring Festival tourist attractions in Taiwan. This year’s nighttime light festival, held for the first time at Xizhou Park, is even more exciting and highly anticipated. Visitors from all over the country are warmly welcome to come to Changhua for a spring tour—to enjoy the flower fields during the day and admire the beautiful lanterns at night.

The upcoming “Flowers in Changhua Nighttime Light Festival” during the Lunar New Year is designed with the concepts of innovation, art, industry, and childlike wonder. It uses traditional Changhua lanterns as the main element, combined with cutting-edge contemporary lighting design, to highlight Changhua’s image as the “City of Flowers.” At the same time, it also showcases Changhua’s vision of promoting green energy industries, developing urban tourism marketing, and boosting local economic prosperity.

Currently, the county government’s Urban and Tourism Development Bureau has commissioned professional vendors to actively carry out the lighting installation work, which is expected to be completed by February 7 for the official trial lighting. Over the past few days, vendors have also been conducting tests on their own during the night, allowing visitors who come to Xizhou Park for leisure and exercise to “get a sneak peek” ahead of time.

Ma Ying-chieh, Director of the County Government’s Urban and Tourism Development Bureau, said that the highlight of this year’s Flowers in Changhua nighttime lantern viewing will be the unique light spectacle of the “Sailboat Tree of Life,” designed using the existing sailboat-shaped iron pillars as the medium. It combines modern technology with traditional craftsmanship to present a dreamy and magnificent scene. The main visual of the park entrance, “Xizhou Park,” is enhanced with spotlights for a striking light sculpture effect, while the entrance design is themed around “Birds Singing and Flowers Fragrant” to welcome guests.

The large-scale three-dimensional floral theme in the roundabout area, “Radiant Flower Dance; Welcoming the New Spring,” features a light zone surrounded by macaron-like dreamy-colored LED star lights wrapped around shrubbery, combined with jumping floral musical note lights to create a light and music show.
