On an overgrown, desolate piece of land, driftwood of varying lengths and shapes forms a photography haven—no extra backdrops needed. This small forest exudes a powerful sense of solitude and wilderness, transforming Zhanghua’s “Fubao Wetlands” from an ecological education area into a wildly popular Instagram-worthy landscape art spot.

The accumulation of driftwood originated from Typhoon Toraji in July 2001, when its fierce winds washed the wood ashore. However, the then-village chief had a creative idea—to make good use of the tangled driftwood and invite artists to collaborate. The result was this artistic landscape of approximately 2-foot-tall pieces, totaling 394 logs, which now draws many visitors for photos.

From a distance, the area shares a somewhat similar weathered charm with the Forest of Serenity. Not only does it offer an alternative aesthetic for photos, but the arrangement of the driftwood also possesses an almost hypnotic allure, making it irresistible for photography enthusiasts who flock here with their cameras to capture this rare hidden gem—without worrying about wet shoes like at the Forest of Serenity.
