Spring in Pink: Cherry Blossoms and Wind Chime Trees Bloom Together in Chiayi

With cherry blossom season upon us, the Alishan area has been dyed in soft pink hues, attracting many visitors. And in Chiayi City and County, beyond the cherry blossoms, magenta trumpet trees are also in full, passionate bloom, sparking a flower-viewing craze in Chiayi.

According to Huang Yuanming, a teacher at Alishan Xianglin Elementary School, who shared on his Facebook page “Wandering in the Clouds over Alishan,” the most popular magenta trumpet trees in Chiayi right now are located along the wall of the National Chiayi Special Education School. They can be seen from the Gaotie elevated road on Chuiyang Road, at the intersection with Taiwan Route 18 (Alishan Highway / Shixian Road). The expected final viewing period is until March 6. When the trumpet trees first bloom, their color is relatively red, but as they reach full bloom, the hue gradually lightens and petals begin to fall.
