The debut of the new Taroko Hello Kitty painted train draws fans and rail enthusiasts for photo ops

Drawing on the success of EVA Air’s Hello Kitty painted planes, Taiwan Railways Administration, EVA Air, and Sanrio Taiwan authorized a collaboration on the newly purchased Taroko train carriages, launching the unique “new Taroko Hello Kitty painted train.” It has become a lively and innovative marketing model in the railway transport industry.

The train’s body art is designed with the concept of “connecting Taiwan with the world through Hello Kitty.” The eight carriages take travelers on a journey starting from northern Taiwan and circling the continents: Asia, Oceania, Europe, Africa, the Americas, and both polar regions before returning to eastern Taiwan. The designs cleverly incorporate elements from seven of EVA Air’s Hello Kitty painted planes, blending railways with aviation to offer international visitors more diverse travel experiences in Taiwan.

Beyond the exterior design, to reflect the friendliness of Taiwan Railways staff when serving passengers, Sanrio specially designed a conductor-style Hello Kitty exclusively for Taiwan Railways. This integrates the professionalism and passion of the railway service with Hello Kitty’s charm and popularity. Hello Kitty the Conductor can be seen throughout the interior — on seat covers, in the carriages, and on the trolleys — creating an atmosphere where passengers feel as though they’re traveling together with her. This makes every trip a joyful, dreamlike journey from the moment they board. Three commemorative stamps were available on the train and during the debut day, so stamp collectors shouldn’t miss out.
