To allow nature ample time to rest, Lake Kaming, renowned as the "Angel's Tear," entered a three-month quiet period starting January 5 of the year 105 (2016), during which the entire area was closed and mountain hut applications were suspended. Now, the Taitung Forest Management Office has announced that the Lake Kaming National Trail will reopen on April 1, giving everyone a chance to witness the beautiful scenery of Lake Kaming.

The Lake Kaming National Trail is part of the Southern Section Two of the Central Mountain Range. The trail features well-defined paths and diverse alpine ecological landscapes, taking hikers through Taiwan hemlock forests, Taiwan fir forests, high mountain valleys, cliffs and rockfalls, bamboo grasslands, and mountain ridgelines. The hidden sounds of deer in the valley, connected mountain peaks, winter snowscapes, bright moonlight, and starry skies have long been attractions for hikers.

The Xiangyang Mountain and Sancha Mountain sections of the trail each offer unique ecological landscapes. Xiangyang Mountain marks the southernmost boundary of the alpine tundra ecosystem in the Central Mountain Range, while Sancha Mountain is famed for its vast, magnificent alpine grasslands and the sapphire-like Lake Kaming. The vibrant flowers of spring and summer, as well as the winter snow scenes on both mountains, are must-see sights.After three months of quiet recuperation, Lake Kaming reopened on April 1. Regulations regarding entry and mountain hut applications will also be announced on that day.
