At the 9 km mark on Nantou County Road 151, prepare to turn right near the 7-11

Turn right (at the chicken shop) onto Guangfu Road toward Xiaobantian

Pass the red bridge

At the end of the bridge, turn right

Landmark of Xiaobantian—stop for supplies. Of course, stock up on cold beer at the nearby supermarket. That’s a must.

After restocking, turn left onto County Road 55 = Aixiang Road

13.7 km along County Road 55, turn left at the entrance of Lushanxiao.

Currently, road signs haven't been set up yet, so keep an eye out — it’s easier to find the way using the rural road mileage markers.

Once you enter the campsite, you’ll see a large parking lot. Please park first and head to the camp office to check in, register, and make payment.

The camp office thoughtfully provides (a large refrigerator, a large dispenser, a lawn mower & pushcart).

They also sell seasonal fruits and vegetables as well as coffee.

A pot of coffee costs 300 TWD (comes in a thermos) and can last a long time.

Arriving late for a night setup, it was already getting a bit late. We quickly set up a lightweight camp, and luckily, only one of the pipe cabins was occupied that week, so the camp owner agreed we could pitch our tent there.

Next to the pipe cabin are resting chairs, which are very convenient for cooking and other tasks. Watching the sunrise among the cypress trees — perfect for campers who love to sleep in, booking a pipe cabin is most suitable.

Under the trees is always the best resting spot.

Pitching a small tent here feels very spacious, with a washing trough and waterproof power outlets nearby.

The small open space in front of the tea garden is also a favorite play area for kids.

Lushanxiao has three camping zones in total. Let’s first take a look at the Tea Garden Zone.

Behind the Tea Garden Zone is a beautiful small tea plantation with spacious camping spots.

The entrance has a parking lot, making it very convenient to unload gear.

The campsite has plenty of sinks, roughly at a 2.5:1 ratio, which is extremely convenient.

Ideal camping spots for small groups — after setting up your tent, there’s still space left for activities.

The camping plots are quite generous, allowing even large tents (SP tents) to be easily set up at the front.

There’s space for two small tents with room for a tarp in between.

Extremely relaxing and spacious camping plots are part of the basic facilities of this new campsite.

The Large Cypress Forest Camping Area can accommodate about five tents.

The terrain is very flat, though it’s a bit of a pity that the new turf in winter isn’t particularly attractive.

The very front also has a parking lot, so unloading gear isn’t far away.

There are two sinks provided, and the waterproof power box is located under the streetlight.

It seems this area is also for group camping, with just a single living tent casually set up.

The camping spots near the parking lot are more spacious — tent campers with large tents, please take note when reserving.

A campsite doesn’t need a lot of facilities — just a table and a small game can keep you entertained all day.

Camping can be this simple and still be a lot of fun.

Lushanxiao has thoughtfully set up a bathroom at the back of the campsite.

The bathroom is dry-wet separated (you can place clothes under the sink).

There’s a men’s-only section that doesn’t take up much space.

Finally, let’s take a look at the campsite area in the innermost bamboo forest trail zone.

It can form an independent small section, so you don’t have to worry about disturbing other campers.

The innermost part is perfect for setting up camp. In summer mornings, you can enjoy the shade and sleep in.

Three sinks are provided.

This is a great section, also located at the entrance in front of the bathrooms, and it’s relatively spacious.

On the right side, you can also set up one tent — the space is still fairly ample.

The most important facility at Lu Shan Xiao (Dawn in the Mountains) — the five-star shower and toilet cabins.

The first one is a family bathroom, featuring a very spacious shower area layout.

Other bathrooms all feature a wet-dry separation design (you can place clothes under the sink).

On the left, there are squat toilets.

On the right, there are shower rooms.

Two hairdryers are provided.

The men’s facilities are located at the innermost end.

Of course, we also have to explore the local ancient battlefield bamboo forest secret realm.

Weave through the lush green bamboo forest and enjoy this sea of green.

The extremely comfortable bamboo forest environment in the ancient path drew me forward as I strolled along.

Wandering along the trail alongside the Changyuan Canal offers different experiences.

I experienced the vibrant green life thriving in the trail.

In spring, the morning sunlight is extremely warm and comforting.

Camping means stepping out of the campsite and witnessing the changes of nature’s seasons.
