The ultra-popular Panasonic EH-CNA97 hair dryer, which almost everyone in Japan buys, was once so out of stock that you couldn’t get it even if you had the money. Now its throne may be taken. Dyson’s latest product, the Dyson Supersonic, applies its patented Air Multiplier technology to a hair dryer, creating a brand-new product that is lighter, more powerful, and equipped with a built-in temperature sensor chip to dry hair quickly without damaging it.

The Dyson Supersonic inherits Dyson’s signature minimalist design. Unlike conventional hair dryers that place the motor behind the nozzle, Dyson situates the motor in the handle, allowing the airflow to be focused and delivered at a 20-degree angle for faster drying, while also providing users with a more balanced grip compared to traditional hair dryers.

But this Dyson Supersonic comes with an equally jaw-dropping price tag. It retails in Japan for 48,600 yen, available in peach pink and white, equivalent to about NT$15,000, enough to buy nearly three Panasonic EH-CNA97s. It is expected to launch in Taiwan as early as the end of July.
