Traditional temple altars are usually filled with worship joss paper, but take a closer look—those yellow bundles are actually “shaped toast.” With their endlessly creative and adorable designs, netizens have praised them as “both innovative and eco-friendly.” The gold paper toast, which blends traditional culture with modern ingenuity, has grabbed massive attention, and orders are pouring in. All March slots are already fully booked.

The Tainan City Civil Affairs Bureau promoted temple culture and encouraged youth creativity by commissioning the bakery “Xiao Cheng Liang Pin,” founded by a post-90s entrepreneur, to make the gold paper toast. They insisted on using high-quality ingredients, handmade production, and youthful energy—thus giving birth to these vivid gold paper toasts that have generated an enthusiastic response.

Handmade white toast is printed with characters such as “福” (blessing) and “祈求平安” (pray for peace) using pumpkin powder and raspberry powder, making them look just like real joss paper. Each strip is priced at NT$80. If you want to try this special “gold paper flavor,” you’ll have to wait until after March due to high demand.
