Want to travel to Tokyo? More and more travelers are choosing low-cost airlines to fly into Tokyo's Haneda Airport. However, the vast majority of these flights are what are known as “red-eye flights.” While they’re cheap, you’ll often arrive at Haneda Airport in the middle of the night, and the earliest trains don’t start running until after 5:30 AM—making both accommodation and getting into the city a challenge. But with a bit of advance planning, you can still enjoy a smooth trip to Tokyo.

1. Airport Lounge Chairs
 
If you're looking to save money, sleeping at the airport is the best option—and the choice most people go for. If you want a good spot, you’ll need to be quick. Late at night, Haneda Airport dims the lights, and it’s common to see passengers lying down to rest in the chairs in both the arrival and departure halls. There are also power outlets nearby for charging devices, but make sure to keep valuables like your passport safe.

2. 24-Hour Shops & Shower Rooms
 
Most shops at Haneda Airport close after midnight, but there are still a few that operate 24 hours. These include Yoshinoya, MOS Burger, and CAFE CARDINAL on the 4th floor, CAFE & DINER Pista in the 2nd-floor arrival hall, and the LAWSON convenience store on the 1st floor. If you’d like a more comfortable shower, the 24-hour tiat shower rooms on the 2nd-floor arrival hall offer a place to freshen up, with each 30-minute session costing 1,030 yen.
