The beautiful scenery of Shuiliandong Cave returns as the Baiyang Trail in Taroko reopens

The Baiyang Trail in Taroko, once selected by foreign media as a must-visit attraction in the world, has recently reopened after five months of renovation. The Baiyang Trail stretches 2.1 kilometers in total, with a mostly flat and easy path, making it a famous tourist destination. The round trip takes about two hours, during which visitors can enjoy waterfalls, canyons, and the magical scenery of “Shuiliandong Cave.”

The Baiyang Trail originated as a construction road for Taipower, and the Shuiliandong (Water Curtain Cave) located at the 2.1-kilometer mark features mountain spring water pouring down from the water-bearing layer on the tunnel ceiling, creating a unique waterfall curtain landscape that attracts many visitors. However, the rock layers inside the tunnel may still be loosened and fall due to the strong scouring of the spring water, so visitors should pay extra attention to the environmental conditions when entering the Shuiliandong Cave.

The Taroko National Park Administration also reminds visitors that the pool in front of the entrance to Shuiliandong Cave is designed to divert water from the cave into the Tsengwen River and serves as a water intake source for the Tianxiang area. To ensure water safety, visitors are advised not to enter the pool for playing to avoid polluting the water source. Starting from 9:00 a.m. on June 23, 2016, the Baiyang Trail will be open up to Shuiliandong Cave. The Baiyang Suspension Bridge remains temporarily closed as it has not yet passed final inspection.
