Typhoon Nepartak intensifies to moderate level—stay prepared for typhoon defenses

Taiwan's first typhoon of the year, "Nepartak," is gradually approaching the island. At 8:00 AM on July 5, it intensified into a moderate typhoon, with its center located approximately 1,800 kilometers southeast of Eluanbi. It is moving at a speed of 28 to 32 kilometers per hour in a northwestwestern direction, heading toward the eastern waters of Taiwan. The Central Weather Bureau predicts that July 7 and 8 will be the closest approach to Taiwan, and whether it will make a direct hit will depend on developments over these two days.

Typhoon Nepartak continues to move in a northwestwestern direction. Forecast paths from various countries vary slightly. The Central Weather Bureau stated that future changes in Pacific high pressure intensity will influence the typhoon’s path, leaving considerable uncertainty. There is also a possibility that it could further intensify into a severe typhoon. The public is advised to prepare for typhoon defenses.
