New Night View Hotspot: A Journey to Chiayi – The Dazzling Neon Lights of Xingjia Suspension Bridge

The Xingjia Suspension Bridge was built in 2007 by a private charitable group to facilitate the commute of students and residents, connecting Xing’an Village and Xingcun Village. After the Public Works Office carried out a light sculpture and lighting improvement project, the nighttime scenery of the bridge was enhanced, attracting many tourists and photography enthusiasts to come and admire and take photos.

The Xingjia Suspension Bridge features a 3.1-kilometer-long bicycle path lined with Taiwanese rain trees. To its south lies the Xingren Section Riverside Sports Park and Waterfront Park. Additionally, the Xingcun Section includes an ecological embankment trail, an ecological garden, and the religious wooden carvings of Cih-Xuan Temple, all symbolizing the gradual formation of an ecological leisure space in the southern part of Chiayi City.

To enhance the bridge’s aesthetic appeal and create talking points, neon lighting was specially installed on the bridge. The Public Works Office allocated a budget of NT$2.97 million for the light sculpture and lighting improvement project, installing a total of 520 LED light sculptures on both sides of the bridge and 99 strip lights on each of the six cables. The numbers “520.6.99” (symbolizing “I love you forever”) were chosen as a true love code, representing everlasting love. Another NT$680,000 was allocated for renovating the aging wooden boardwalk, repainting the wooden handrails, and removing rust from the metal parts. Under the night sky, the bridge shines brilliantly like a long, sparkling necklace of luminous beads, presenting a unique nighttime charm and becoming a beautiful landmark along the urban blue belt.

The light show debuted during the test phase around Qixi Festival and received high praise. Moving forward, the light display will “sparkle” weekly, with different colored lights and dynamic hourly shows every evening from 7 PM to 10 PM (lights remain on until 11 PM). With its distinctive nighttime allure, it is expected to become a top choice for romantic dates and a new leisure and sightseeing spot for families.

The striking red arched suspension bridge takes on different charms day and night. The Xingjia Suspension Bridge connects nearby riverside parks, waterfront parks, and bicycle trails, offering rich natural ecology. At sunset, you can stroll across the bridge, admire the glowing sky, and enjoy the golden radiance of Cih-Xuan Temple, creating a breathtakingly beautiful and blissful scene.
