Typhoon Megi, a medium-strength typhoon, has brought strong winds and heavy rain. By the afternoon of the 27th, wind and rain were noticeable across Taiwan, growing even more intense after nightfall. Central and southern Taiwan need to take extra precautions. It is expected that the storm will gradually move out of the typhoon circulation starting from the morning of the 28th, but central and southern regions should remain on guard against torrential rain. Regarding work and school suspensions: Kinmen County has suspended work and classes on the 28th. Kaohsiung City announced the suspension at 21:00 (Update: Kaohsiung City announced the suspension at 19:00 due to weather conditions. The northern region, including Taipei, New Taipei, and Keelung, will announce the decision at 22:00. Other suspension updates are listed below).

Heavy or torrential rain is expected in parts of Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Hualien, Chiayi, Tainan, Yilan, and mountainous areas of Taitung. Parts of Penghu, Chiayi, Tainan, Yilan plains, and mountainous areas of New Taipei may experience moderate to heavy rain, with rainfall expected to ease significantly in the afternoon. Central and southern Taiwan, especially the southern regions and mountainous areas, should remain cautious of heavy rainfall.
Between the early hours of the 28th and 8:00 AM, the following areas recorded significant cumulative rainfall: Taipingshan, Yilan (1109 mm), Xinfaxing, Kaohsiung (839 mm), Tianxiang, Hualien (796 mm), Taiwu, Pingtung (771 mm), Qianghuangkeng, Tainan (763 mm), Taoshan, Taichung (674 mm)

After making landfall, Typhoon Megi maintained wind speeds of 14–16 levels, with a 7-level gale radius of 250 km and a 10-level gale radius of 100 km. According to the 17:30 bulletin from the Central Weather Bureau, the center of Typhoon Megi was located approximately 30 km southeast of Taichung.
Today (September 27), parts of the mountainous areas in Kaohsiung and Pingtung experienced torrential or super torrential rain; plains areas in Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Yilan, Hualien, as well as mountainous areas in Taitung, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli, Taichung, Nantou, Chiayi, and Tainan saw localized torrential or heavy rain; there is also a chance of moderate to heavy rain in mountainous areas of Taipei, Miaoli, Chiayi City, plains areas of Chiayi County, the Hengchun Peninsula, and Penghu County. Yilan experienced astonishing rainfall, with the Lanyang River swelling rapidly; Orchid Island even faced 16-level strong winds.
