Typhoon Haima (international name: HAIMA), the 22nd typhoon of the season, has strengthened into a severe typhoon. Its center is located at 14.9°N, 132.2°E, moving west-northwest to west at a speed of 26 km/h. The central pressure is 925 hPa, with maximum sustained winds near the center at 51 m/s and gusts reaching up to 63 m/s. The radius of the 7-level wind zone is 220 km, and the 10-level wind zone spans 80 km. Typhoon Sarika, currently a moderate typhoon, has caused significant damage and casualties in the Philippines and is heading toward Hainan Island in China and Hong Kong.

The impact of severe Typhoon Haima on Taiwan should not be underestimated. It strengthened into a severe typhoon at 2:00 AM on the 18th, and there is no exclusion of a maritime warning being issued on the morning of October 19. Its current trajectory may envelop the entire island, circling around Taiwan and moving upward in a loop. The greatest impact is expected on October 20 and 21 (Thursday and Friday), so strict precautions are necessary.

 
Affected by the northeast monsoon and the approaching outer circulation of the typhoon, there is a continued risk of heavy rain in mountainous areas of northern, Taipei, Keelung, Yilan, Hualien, Taitung, and the Hengchun Peninsula. The western half of Taiwan will see sunny to cloudy conditions with occasional brief showers. Mornings and evenings will be cooler, so take care to avoid catching a chill.
