Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama joins Hong Kong Madame Tussauds

Hong Kong Madame Tussauds has partnered with Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama to launch the “Polka Dot Art Theme Exhibition,” which officially opened on November 3. The new exhibition area, inspired by her signature polka dots and pumpkins, lets visitors experience the notion of “self-obliteration” and immerse themselves in Yayoi Kusama’s artistic world.

The Yayoi Kusama Art Theme Exhibition officially opened at Hong Kong Madame Tussauds on November 3,featuringa yellow background accented with her iconic design elements,repeatedly covered in black polka dots,with visitors looking up to see aspecially ordered pumpkin from Japansuspended in mid-air, with parallel mirrors and lighting that perfectly create an infinite space effect,allowing visitorstoexperience “self-obliteration”and lose themselves in the moment, while the highly realistic“Polka Dot Queen”Yayoi Kusama wax figure, dressed in a long dress with a pattern matching the background, sits in the center of the exhibition area, inviting everyone into her art world.

This is thefirsttime Hong Kong Madame Tussauds has created an art-themed exhibition, aiming to break the public’s traditional notion that “wax museums only have wax figures.” It offers people not only the chance to learn about Yayoi Kusama’s creative philosophy and positive messages but also to personally engage inexciting and interactiveexperiences. This is also the only Yayoi Kusama wax art-themed exhibition outside of Tokyo, and it is sure to spark lively discussion.
