Tokyo’s most popular tonkatsu (pork cutlet) shop makes its Taiwan debut at Shinjuku Mitsukoshi in Xinyi District

The popular Tokyo tonkatsu shop that many travelers flock to has now opened a branch in Taiwan. Officially launching on October 20th, Maisen (known as 舞泉 in Chinese, officially named 迈泉 in Taiwan), which has been generating buzz among Japan enthusiasts for months, has set up shop at A9 of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi. The interior design continues the minimalist and high-quality aesthetic of its flagship store in Tokyo’s Aoyama district. In addition to made-to-order meals, the store also offers boxed sandwiches for takeout, giving food lovers yet another delicious option.

News of Maisen’s expansion into Taiwan was also officially announced on the brand’s Japanese website. The Taiwanese branch is operated by LICHEN-MT Co., Ltd, with the official partnership signed in May 2016. Aside from Japan, Maisen previously only had an overseas location in Thailand, making Taiwan the second country to host the brand
