The dazzling and breathtaking scenery of Matsu reveals the unseen beauty of Beigan

Following our previous introduction to Matsu’s Nangan Island, its stunning landscapes have been warmly embraced by the public. This time, our travel experts will introduce Beigan Island, located near Nangan. The entire island features dramatic terrain changes, numerous beaches and islets, as well as a cluster of sheltered bays, creating a richly diverse travel experience. The most captivating attraction is Qinpibu, where well-preserved traditional Matsu settlements stand against mountains and face the sea. The colors of the stone houses shift with the sunlight, offering sea views, sunsets, and stargazing that can make one forget worldly worries.

Qinpibu Settlement

Qinpibu is known as the “Mediterranean of Matsu.” It is the most representative settlement of Eastern Min-style architecture in Matsu, exceptionally well-preserved, and highly favored by domestic and international architecture, culture, and art communities. The formerly vacant houses, left due to depopulation, have been renovated by the government into homestays and cultural spaces, giving Qinpibu a diverse and vibrant appearance.

Da Wu

Da Wu is located to the north of Beigan, adjacent to Gaodeng Island. It was once inhabited and home to military personnel, but due to depopulation and troop withdrawal, it has become the only uninhabited island in Matsu that visitors can access.
