Two New Taipei Landmarks Among CNN's Global Top Nine Urban Landmarks

CNN selects nine new urban landmarks worldwide each year, choosing the most anticipated new city attractions based on architectural features and cultural elements. In the 2016 selection, one of the more notable was the iconic development in Xinyi District — Tao Zhu Yin Yuan. Unlike public infrastructure, this project is a luxury residential building. Its uniquely rotating clockwise exterior and eco-friendly green architecture made Tao Zhu Yin Yuan the only residential building selected globally. Another Taipei landmark that made the list is the Taipei Performing Arts Center in Shilin, with its distinctive design of a sphere appearing to float in mid-air and the concept of integrating art into everyday life for all to enjoy, making the structure widely beloved.
