Two places in Taiwan make the list of Asia’s top 10 emerging travel destinations
The world’s largest travel review website TripAdvisor has announced its 2018 list of emerging travel destinations in Asia, with Nantou County and Tainan ranking fifth and seventh in Asia respectively.

The selection of destinations by TripAdvisor is based on comprehensive calculations that take into account the ratings and reviews given over the past year by hundreds of millions of global travelers on the site for hotels, attractions, and restaurants in each destination, as well as data on annual growth in search and booking intent.

Nantou offers diverse tourism experiences. In addition to the well-known Sun Moon Lake, the Qingjing High-altitude Viewing Trail is also popular among travelers, and the Zhushan Rui Long Waterfall Scenic Area is set to open. Furthermore, internationally recognized events such as the annual World Tea Expo and the Sun Moon Lake Swimming Carnival have been key factors in Nantou County's inclusion on the list.

In the future, Nantou County plans to continue promoting new types of tourism elements, such as applying to the International Dark-Sky Association to establish Taiwan’s first stargazing park, or developing unique local offerings like gourmet homestays.
