Step into the forest maze – Hsinchu’s hidden gem, the Mangrove Ecological Area

Mangroves are an indispensable part of Taiwan’s ecosystem. In addition to the mangrove area in Tamsui, there is also a vast mangrove ecological zone in Xinfeng Township, Hsinchu. The Mangrove Recreation Area located in Hongsing Harbor, Hsinchu, covers approximately 8.5 hectares. It is not only an ecological conservation area but also the only place in northern Taiwan where mangrove species Kandelia obovata and Avicennia marina grow together. Walking into the ecological area feels like stepping into a green jungle maze. The area not only has well-maintained walking trails along the way, but also rest pavilions. The scenery of the intertidal zone at night is particularly enchanting, making it a recommended spot for travelers visiting Hsinchu.
