2017 Taipei International Book Exhibition: A Time of Reading and Enjoyment

The 25th Taipei International Book Exhibition, organized by the Taipei Book Fair Foundation, will take place from February 8 to 13. With its theme returning to Taiwan, the exhibition has planned a “Time of Reading Theme Pavilion” to review the evolution of Taiwan’s reading culture over the past 60 years, showcasing everything from traditional eras to the surprises brought by VR, AR, and Facebook live broadcasts in reading technology — both nostalgic and cutting-edge. For the first time, the book fair has extended its opening hours: entry begins at 3:00 PM on the first day, stays open until 9:00 PM on weekdays, and until 10:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, offering a “Starlight Night” every day of the exhibition period. This allows busy office workers more time to join in and enjoy the beauty of reading.

The Taipei International Book Exhibition continues to innovate, emphasizing a philosophy that integrates reading with the times, sharing, digital experiences, and atmosphere. The “Time of Reading Theme Pavilion” creates seven impressive highlights for the book fair. Designed by renowned designer Akibo Lee, a 6-meter-tall main visual titled “The Joyful Walking Reader” features a rolling book as its heart, symbolizing that book lovers are as invincible as steel giants.

This year’s book fair has truly become a publishing carnival. Various sections — including the international zone, general zone, digital special zone, anime and light novel area — each have their own style. Lectures and activities follow one another in an exciting lineup, and the exhibition itself is highly captivating. Visitors here can not only select and purchase books but also feel the vitality of the publishing industry and reignite their passion for reading.

Ticket Information
Hall 1: February 8 (Professional Day) is open only to publishing professionals and people with disabilities
(Open to the general public for ticket entry starting at 3:00 PM; full public access from February 9 – 13)
Hall 3: Open to ticket holders throughout the exhibition period
People with disabilities can enter Halls 1 and 3 free of charge by presenting their disability card at the entrance during the six-day exhibition period. If accompanied, the first companion may enter for free; the second (and any additional) companions must purchase tickets.
