The much-talked-about 2017 Pingtung Lantern Festival presents a unique lantern event. Aside from incorporating the beautiful riverside scenery of the Wannian River into public art lighting designs, the surrounding areas also feature LED rose light seas that went viral in Korea. The blue light sea, which up close reveals roses, delights visitors who can’t get enough of taking photos. During the day, it transforms into a white flower sea with a “LOVE” motif in the background, and at night, it glows brightly, aligning perfectly with what today’s travelers love — photogenic highlights that are widely shared and reposted on social media.

The 2017 Pingtung Lantern Festival offers specially planned food stalls, agricultural product booths, and family DIY activities every day. As the event nears its end, there will be two major events as follows.

 

Lantern Riddle Party: February 11 (Saturday), 7:00–9:00 PM at the Main Stage (intersection of West Free Road and Free Road)

 

Closing Gala: February 12 (Sunday), 7:00–9:00 PM at the Main Stage (intersection of West Free Road and Free Road), featuring performances by 831, Wu Junhong, Wu Wenfang, Yang Chengjun, Sun Shengxi, Zhu Haijun, and Weng Liyou.
