Public transportation and driving transfer discounts for the Yangmingshan Flower Season and Zhuzihhu Calla Lily Season

Before the Lunar New Year, the pink dogwood cherries on Yangmingshan had already begun to bloom. In 2017, due to the earlier Lunar New Year falling in late January and extreme weather conditions, the pink dogwood cherries (mountain cherries) on Yangmingshan bloomed about half a month later than usual, displaying their lovely peachy-pink blossoms. This finally brought smiles to flower enthusiasts both locally and abroad who had been anxiously waiting. The 2017 Yangmingshan Flower Season is scheduled from February 10 to March 19, featuring a 38-day event across two areas: the Flower Research Center and Yangmingshan Park. This year, with the completion of renovation works in Yangmingshan Park, not only has a cherry blossom grove and stream area been added in front of the flower clock—completely transforming the look of the area visitors remember—but a new all-age accessible trail has also been constructed, making it easy for seniors and children to explore every corner of the park. The renovation project was even awarded the ‘Public Construction Golden Quality Award’ by Taiwan’s Executive Yuan Public Construction Commission. Flower lovers should take this opportunity to check out the park’s new look.

As the Yangmingshan Flower Season (February 10 – March 19) and Zhuzihhu Calla Lily Season (March 24 – April 23) unfold, the Taipei City Department of Transportation has specially launched special flower season buses and leisure bus services, operating from February 10 to April 23. With limited parking available on the mountain, it is recommended to use public transport. Drivers can park at the Bai Ling High School Underground Parking Lot or Fulin Park Underground Parking Lot and then transfer to Red 5, 109, 111, 260, or 127 (flower season special bus) to head up the mountain. Upon arrival, visitors can get discount stamps at four locations: the Yangmingshan Park Visitor Center, Yangmingshan National Park Visitor Center, bus terminal, or the second parking lot management office. With these stamps, you can enjoy the first three hours of free parking on the day of your visit.

The bus routes include the 127 (Metro Jiantan Station – Yangmingshan Second Parking Lot), which shuttles from downtown to Yangmingshan, as well as several loop routes on the mountain: 124 (Xiaoyoukeng – Yangmingshan Second Parking Lot – Yangmingshan Bus Terminal), 125 (Flower Clock – Yangmingshan Bus Terminal), 130 (Yangmingshan Second Parking Lot – Yangmingshan Study House), 131 (Yangmingshan Second Parking Lot – Zhuzihhu), and the 131-area bus (Yangmingshan Second Parking Lot – Hutan District Civic Activity Center – Dinghu). Leisure buses 128 and 129 have also been extended to Zhuzihhu. Except for routes 128 and 129, which are two-section fares, all other routes use a one-section fare system, offering the public more diverse travel options. In addition, except for routes 127, 128, 129, and the 131-area bus, which operate only on weekends and holidays, all other routes run daily.

The flower season special bus 131-area route continues its previous service, taking passengers to the Zhuzihhu Dinghu area. It can be boarded at the Yangmingshan Bus Terminal and the Second Parking Lot. Additionally, operators of the flower season special buses may adjust frequency based on weather and passenger flow. Taking advantage of these services helps you avoid traffic jams and the hassle of finding parking. To assist those with limited mobility in visiting the mountain to view flowers, you can take the 260 bus (including area and Flower Clock routes) from Taipei Main Station to Yangmingshan. The 260 bus Flower Clock route is fully equipped with low-floor buses (with 2 accessible seats) and 2 large rehabilitation buses (with 6 accessible seats). From Metro Jiantan Station to the Yangmingshan Bus Terminal, you can take the Red 5 bus, which also generally features low-floor buses. Furthermore, during the Flower Season and Calla Lily Season, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, a free small-scale rehabilitation bus shuttle service is available at the “Yangmingshan Flower Clock Parking Lot,” providing transport for individuals with disabilities between “Yangmingshan Study House,” “Yangmingshan National Park – Erziping Recreation Area,” and “Zhuzihhu.”

Please note that different flower season special buses and leisure buses have varying last departure times. After the special buses stop running, you can transfer to the Downhill Bus at the Taipei Metropolitan Bus Yangmingshan Terminal. It is recommended to take public transport up the mountain to avoid traffic congestion.
