Adorably Cute Temple Statue Figurines – Taiwan’s First Land God Cultural Museum

While statues are typically revered and worshipped by believers, Taoyuan City has built Taiwan's first-ever Land God Cultural Museum to promote the culture of Land God belief. In addition to displaying many divine statues, the museum also features many adorable diorama displays of Land Gods and other deities, allowing visitors and worshippers to get closer to local faith and culture. With an average of over seven Land God temples per square kilometer in Taoyuan District, the city boasts the highest density of such temples nationwide. This inspired the creation of the Land God Cultural Museum, which officially opened on February 27, enabling visitors from all over to gain a deeper understanding of folk beliefs and local culture.

The first floor of the Taoyuan City Land God Cultural Museum showcases a number of divine generals, allowing the public to closely observe the splendid artistry of divine statues. The second and third floors are dedicated to permanent exhibitions, featuring interactive displays along with rich documentary resources where visitors can learn about Taoyuan’s history, Taiwanese people’s emotional connection to the land, temple-front culture, as well as diverse global Land God beliefs. The fourth, fifth, and sixth floors are designed as civic art galleries, hosting various forms of art exhibitions. Meanwhile, the Yitaoqu Cultural & Creative Base is home to multiple artists who regularly offer various hands-on workshops, making it a local hub for the arts.
