Taiwan boasts world-class natural landscapes, and its rich scenic beauty has earned it the reputation of a beautiful island among international tourists and media. The dramatic gradient of seawater colors, aside from Italy’s Blue Hole, can also be seen in the Yinyang Sea, located on the northern side of the Shuishe Cave settlement in Ruifang District, New Taipei. The Yinyang Sea is a unique geographical feature of the northeastern coastal area, where the yellowish-brown seawater in the bay sharply contrasts with the deep blue of the open sea.

Due to the area’s unique geology, the rocks of Jinguashi contain large amounts of pyrite. Coupled with the rainy climate of the northeastern region, abundant rainfall seeps into the ore, coating it with iron hydroxide and turning it yellowish-brown. The mineral-rich water then flows into the sea, where the high concentration of iron hydroxide floats on the surface, and the enclosed bay prevents the seawater from dispersing easily—resulting in the distinctive landscape of the Yinyang Sea.

1. From Taipei – Take National Freeway 1 → Connect to Wanjui Expressway (Provincial Highway 62) → Exit at Ruibin Interchange → Turn right onto Coastal Highway to reach 78.2K on Provincial Highway 2
2. From Yilan – Travel along Provincial Highway 2 Coastal Highway → Head north via Dali, Fulong, Aodi, Bitou Cape, and Nanya to reach Shuishe Cave / 78.2K on Provincial Highway 2

2. Transfer to the Pingxi Branch Line train at Ruifang or Houdong Railway Station → Get off at Sandiaoling Station

1. Take the North-Return Railway to Ruifang Station → Then transfer to Keelung Bus (Coastal Line) → Get off at Shuishe Cave Station
2. Take the Keelung Bus to Jinguashi from Keelung Railway Station → Get off at Jinguashi Station
