Huanghua Avenue: A Golden Tunnel Backdropped by Green Mountains – A Hidden Gem in Eastern Taiwan

With cherry blossoms in full bloom during peak season, the nation is swept up in a cherry blossom chasing craze. Beyond admiring sakura, golden trumpet trees are also bursting into vibrant bloom across Taiwan. Next to Hengyuan Junior High School in Hualien, there lies a visually dazzling golden tunnel. Set against a backdrop of lush green mountains, the golden avenue presents a breathtaking beauty that makes everyone want to pause and admire. The golden trumpet trees planted along both sides of the irrigation channel resemble a nature-made Champs-Élysées. The vast expanse of green mountains and reflections on the water create a unique charm unlike other golden tunnels.

The golden trumpet tree tunnel near Hengyuan Junior High School belongs to the Taiwan Sugar Corporation’s eco-friendly forest boulevard. These trees were originally part of the Dafu Farm and were replanted here due to the widening of Provincial Highway 9. In addition to golden trumpet trees, the area also features trees such as fukugi, green maple, and Taiwan incense cedar saplings. Since the golden trumpet tree blooming period is short, visitors should seize the opportunity to enjoy this stunning scenery.
