The King Cherry Blossom at Alishan Blooms with Somei Yoshino Cherry Blossoms – A Celestial Superstar

The Alishan Cherry Blossom Season kicked off in full swing on March 10th. Every spring, it presents a spectacular sea of flowers, attracting countless visitors on a pilgrimage, and has been voted by netizens as the most popular cherry blossom viewing spot from 2016 to 2017. The Alisha Forest Recreation Area boasts the largest number of Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms, with over 1,900 trees. In second place are Taiwan mountain cherries, numbering more than 1,780 trees, while double-flowered yaezakura also exceed one thousand. Among them, the most famous star is the King Cherry Blossom – a Somei Yoshino at the Alishan Work Station, which is currently about 30% in bloom. As temperatures rise, the blooming condition will change throughout the day and night. Below are close-up, panoramic, and near-view shots of the Cherry Blossom King. It is expected to be in full bloom over the weekend, and other Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms across Alishan will follow suit next week.
