First "Little Yellow Bus" free rides offer a tour of night market highlights

The Taichung City Government Transportation Bureau has planned the city’s first "Little Yellow Bus" — Route Yellow 1 (Fengyuan – Fengyuan Baseball Stadium) — since April 1 to offer diverse public transport options and support basic transportation rights for residents in remote areas. The service is provided via reservation-based taxis, not only offering tourists free rides but also upgrading conventional bus services. The Little Yellow Buses will feature colorful designs for easy recognition, and each bus stop will display updated timetables along with reservation contact information. Additionally, the Transportation Bureau will distribute informational flyers to help the public understand how to use the service.

The Little Yellow Bus route runs from Sanmin Road of Fengyuan Bus Station, passing landmarks such as the Mazu Temple, Fengyuan Hospital, Fengyuan High School, and ending at Fengyuan Baseball Stadium. Departure times from Sanmin Road in Fengyuan are 9:50 AM, 1:20 PM, and 2:10 PM daily; departure times from Fengyuan Baseball Stadium are 10:15 AM, 1:45 PM, and 2:35 PM daily.

Although the Little Yellow Bus operates on fixed schedules, as each taxi can carry only 3 to 4 passengers, riders are advised to make reservations in advance, preferably one day before travel, to allow fleet scheduling. Additional taxis will be arranged if demand is high.

By replacing traditional bus services with flexible taxi services, the initiative better accommodates seniors, individuals with mobility issues, or travelers carrying large luggage, aiming to achieve a win-win-win outcome for the public, taxi industry, and the municipal government.
