Colored Calla Lilies × 12 Special Itineraries for an In-depth Discovery of the Beauty of the Aviation City

The 2017 Taoyuan Colored Calla Lily Season kicks off at the end of March, being grandly held around the farmland near the intersection of Shengde North Road and Tianxi Road in Dayuan District, Taoyuan City. The main exhibition area covers approximately 6.6 hectares. The event begins on March 31 and will run until April 9. Colored calla lilies have traditionally been mainly used as cut flowers for sale in the floral market. This special lily festival aims to let more people know that calla lilies come in a variety of colors—not just white—and are a vibrant type of flower. They are also a high-value floral variety long cultivated in Dayuan District. The park is planted with yellow, red, pink, and purple calla lilies. In addition, the event route includes wooden boardwalks or wood-chip pathways, all designed to enhance accessibility and invite families and children to enjoy the colorful lilies together.

The event also uses art as a spatial identifier to present the unique local imagery of Xihaili, strengthen local resident participation and collective recognition, and through artistic intervention, carry out some “micro-renovations” to enhance environmental quality. Artists are invited to take part, with seven plus one installation artworks exhibited throughout the event grounds.
