Sword Lake Amusement World has launched a new attraction for the Lunar New Year, jointly developed over two years by a Hollywood special effects team from the U.S. and the Unicorn Entertainment team, winners of the 2017 Innovation Business Award for Best Technological Innovation (Gold). The result is the AR Scare Train, featuring 8 “shockingly” classic scenes that take riders on a journey of non-stop thrills with a scare factor that goes off the charts – only the brave need apply.

The train began operating in the morning, with Tainan County Government’s Department of Cultural Affairs Tourism Marketing Section Chief Jiang Mingxin and KuKeng Township Chief Huang Yiling among the first to try it out, praising Sword Lake for its constant innovation that never fails to surprise visitors.

Combining AR and holographic projection technology, the ride immerses passengers in a virtual reality experience (Augmented Reality) where orcs attack the train – all visible to the naked eye. The train features 8 shocking scenes, plus a clown conductor with an eerie smile. Throughout the ride, sound and light effects blend with scary interactive elements including zombies, werewolves, and chainsaw-wielding men, making for a truly terrifying experience.

Sword Lake General Manager You Yixian noted that visitors can take photos with the clown conductor at the Scare Train platform, or enjoy a 360-degree panoramic paid photo service aboard the Scare Train with friends. There are also energy drinks, exorcism potions, and a variety of healing-themed cultural and creative souvenirs to recharge after the scares.

To celebrate the launch of the AR Scare Train, the park is offering a special “trembling” all-inclusive ticket for just NT$699 from January 17 to February 28. Visitors who enter before February 14 will also receive a limited-edition scare meal on the train as an early bird bonus.

Assistant Manager Shih Leiping stated that several ticket discounts are available alongside the Scare Train launch. On your birthday in January, simply show your ID to purchase a ticket for just NT$100. Additionally, hardworking volunteer firefighters can enjoy a NT$100 discount on tickets (valid with original ID and one accompanying person of any ticket type) from January 2 to February 14. From now until the end of December, those presenting proof of low-income or near-low-income status can purchase tickets for just NT$350.
