The Danhai Light Rail Meets Large-Scale Public Art Custom-Made by Jimmy

The public art along the Green Mountain Line of the Danhai Light Rail in New Taipei City invites renowned artist Jimmy to custom-create “Close Your Eyes for a Moment.” All 11 stations along the line will be transformed into pages from Jimmy’s picture books. Jimmy and New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu jointly held a press conference to unveil the works, welcoming visitors to ride a train filled with imagination, hope, and dreams. Jimmy expressed gratitude to New Taipei City for providing such a creative space, hoping these artworks can add more color to each station and inspire greater imagination in the new urban area.

Teacher Jimmy is the pride of Taiwan. Many of his picture books are filled with imaginative life and bring joy to people. Whether it’s creations like “Turn Left, Turn Right” or “Starry Starry Night,” they have added a lot of imaginative space to everyone’s growth and daily life. Jimmy’s works also represent Taiwanese art on the international stage.

This time, Teacher Jimmy has created a brand-new picture book for the public art of the Danhai Light Rail in New Taipei City — “Close Your Eyes for a Moment.” It aims to encourage everyone to briefly close their eyes in daily life. Even just imagining or glancing around can be a wonderful experience.

This is the first time Teacher Jimmy has created something brand-new for public infrastructure. Each station features his artwork, transforming his picture books into three-dimensional sculptures. It is believed this will leave an important milestone in Taiwan’s public art and bring more color and imagination to Tamsui, which boasts rich geographical landscapes and a long history.

Endless beautiful imagination is Jimmy’s blessing for Tamsui. Along the Green Mountain Line of the Danhai Light Rail, the 11 stations feature distinctive sculptures that transition from flat images into the three-dimensional world. A little girl from the story will guide passengers on their journey in various poses.
