The Tree-lined Avenue & Pink Tabebuia Blossoms: A Romantic Sight Rivaling Japan’s Most Scenic University

Situated in Taichung, National Chung Hsing University transforms into a floral paradise every spring. As you walk along the Green River, besides admiring the verdant grasslands, you’ll be greeted by the explosion of magenta tabebuia blossoms, which bloom brilliantly during this season. The pink floral sea interlaces with the emerald-green woods, covering the Green Pathway near the university in a pink hue. Strolling down Xingda Road, blanketed with fallen petals, feels like walking on a dreamy flower-strewn path — a truly romantic sight. The campus also boasts majestic tree-lined boulevards, where neat rows of tall trees create pathways that resemble the picturesque university settings seen in Japanese idol dramas.

The Indian laurel trees planted along the streets of Taichung rank as the highest in both quantity and density across Taiwan, and National Chung Hsing University is home to a vast expanse of them. Within just a few years, they’ve formed a dense, shady boulevard that has become one of Taichung’s popular spots for wedding photography. In addition to the pink tabebuia, the roadsides of Xingda Road are also lined with golden shower trees. From May to June each year, during their flowering season, the scene of golden petals raining down from the sky transforms the area into a golden tunnel.
