The Taiping Mountain National Forest Recreation Area in Yilan is a highly renowned ecotourism destination, offering diverse mountain scenery and beauty throughout the four seasons that attract many visitors. A cold front recently hit, bringing the first snowfalls to many high-altitude areas, and Taiping Mountain also experienced temperatures as low as minus four degrees Celsius, covering the mountaintops with a vast expanse of white snow. As the sunrise cast its light, the melting snow scene looked as enchanting as a fairyland in a foreign land.

The trees on Taiping Mountain were all blanketed with heavy rime, presenting a vast white scene when viewed from afar. At sunrise, the morning light shimmered brilliantly, creating a dazzling sight. Looking down from the mountain, the small settlement cabins were surrounded by the expansive white mountain landscape, resembling a snow country — a cinematic beauty unfolding before your eyes.

The beauty of Taiping Mountain resembles a fairyland, but the roads often ice over due to the low temperatures. In case of icy conditions, for safety reasons, you must wait at the interpretation station for staff to inspect the road and confirm it’s safe before ascending. You can also check the mountain conditions on the official website and prepare snow chains and other hiking gear accordingly.
