Recently, a new landmark has emerged in Shanghai—"Baguan Garden," an art gallery dedicated to showcasing arts and crafts, which can also be used as an event venue, designed by Wutopia Lab,The exterior form is highly distinctive, featuring a café, library, office, homestay, restaurant, and study, making it a miniature cultural complex. Located at a street corner within a triangular space formed by two-story buildings, this art gallery is embedded into one side of the building, presented as a four-story circular iconic structure.

The designer aimed to highlight the characteristics of Shanghai in Baguan Garden—not minimalism, nor extravagant flights of fancy. Through a spatial relationship unfolding in dualities, the triangular courtyard is on the outside, while the circular building is within, creating a complex form with a simple interior, interpreting the gallery’s unadorned yet powerful essence. Each floor inside contains different elements, such as the rooftop garden, which pays homage to classical gardens, making it a distinctive architectural fusion of tradition and modernity.
