The Mysterious Creative Supergroup Sing It Up: Miracle Hits the Big Screen

Japan’s most enigmatic musical supergroup GReeeeN, which has been active for ten years since their debut, consistently sings heartfelt anthems about youth, growth, and positivity. Their breakout hit “Miracle” was the theme song of the hit baseball drama series “ROOKIES.” Despite never showing their faces in public during their decade-long career, the group has maintained immense popularity. Their story—centering on four dental students who founded the band—is now coming to the big screen in the movie *Sing It Up: Miracle*, starring Masaki Suda and Takeru Satoh, which has been a box office success in Japan.

JIN (played by Takeru Satoh), who treats the band as his career, chooses to leave home and break ties with his stubborn father (played by Kaoru Kobayashi) in pursuit of his dream of making it big. The following year, his younger brother HIDE (played by Masaki Suda) enters dental school. By chance, he picks up the guitar left behind by his brother JIN and becomes immersed in the world of music. Soon after, HIDE invites his classmates Nabi (played by Ryusei Yokohama), Kuni (played by Ryo Narita), and Sou (played by Yosuke Sugino) to form the band GReeeeN and begin creating their own music.

Before long, GReeeeN holds their first live concert at a student event. JIN quietly cheers them on from the sidelines and resolves to support the four as their producer while placing his own musical dreams in their hands. To prevent their father from obstructing HIDE’s music career, JIN devises a plan for GReeeeN to make their debut “without showing their faces,” letting their music stand on its own in the market.

A new song titled “Michi” (The Path), written by HIDE and recorded in the closet of JIN’s apartment, becomes GReeeeN’s debut track and leads to their first album. But HIDE suddenly feels he has neglected his studies because of music and considers disbanding the group. Torn between his doubts and passion for music, HIDE keeps asking himself what he truly wants to do—until the figure of his older brother JIN appears before him...
