The gentle breeze along the canal, a brand-new colorful mural, a stunning 3D fantasy world that’s truly eye-catching

Since starting the painted staircase project in 2014, the New Taipei City Government has continued to bring a series of delightful visual feasts to the waterside staircases around the Erchong Floodway. With a diverse range of mural themes, visitors can enjoy a colorful and wonderfully exciting leisure and recreational experience.

This year, to ensure the staircase murals continue to display vibrant colors and artistic beauty, in addition to renewing and restoring those that have faded, grown mold, or accumulated water stains due to wind and rain, the theme of “3D Fantasy World” was adopted. Combining local characteristics, four viewing platform staircases and three smaller staircases were given a fresh new look, offering visitors a magical space full of wonder and imagination, as well as a more comfortable and expansive visual experience.

The annual International Blessing Water Lantern Festival held near Chenglu Bridge attracts large numbers of visitors. The viewing platform staircase here is themed “Water Lantern Blessings,” depicting a lively water lantern blessing ceremony. In addition to continuing the tradition of praying for blessings for residents, it also allows visitors who couldn’t attend to feel the solemn and reverent atmosphere.

The other three viewing platform staircases are themed “Secret Garden,” “Where Did the Elephants Go?” and “Fantasy Forest,” while the smaller staircases are themed “Legend of the Fairyland,” “Dinosaurs on the Loose,” and “New Paradise.” This staircase mural project, using the “3D Fantasy Series,” combines visual painting techniques to let visitors fully unleash their imaginations and take fun, creative photos.
