Discover the Beauty of Urban Harbors: Fashionable Incinerator × Wild Grassland

Many beautiful sights are often overlooked unintentionally. To avoid missing out on such scenery, take a closer look and pay more attention when passing through each intersection or area. The waste incineration plant in Bali is different from the usual stereotypes — there is no mess or foul odor here. Instead, it is clean and beautiful both inside and out. The plant specially invited the renowned French architectural firm Pei Cobb Freed Partners to design the exteriors of two incinerators in Taiwan: one located at the Nanzao Fishing Port Incinerator in Hsinchu, and the other in Bali, Taipei. Although it is a waste incineration plant, it offers visitors a completely different modern aesthetic.

The Pei Cobb Freed Partners architectural firm was founded by I.M. Pei, who led the design of the Grand Louvre project. The Bali Incineration Plant features a simple and bright style combined with geometric structural forms. The entire plant adopts an aluminum curtain wall glass design. The mountain-shaped skylight in the exhibition hall and the asymmetrical mountain-shaped arched skylight in the dumping area are the main highlights and features of the incinerator’s curtain wall exterior. In addition to admiring the unique architecture of the incineration plant, visitors can also enjoy views of scenic spots such as Taipei Harbor and the wild grasslands.
